What is my phone

What is my phone model number?

On the phone in your hand: Settings → About phone (iPhone: Settings → General → About), the retail box, or often the SIM tray. Paste that code here and the lookup turns it into the name on the box. Samsung codes start with SM-. Oppo, OnePlus, and realme codes usually start with CPH or RMX.

How to read a Samsung code

Take SM-S938U1. SM means Samsung mobile. S938 is this particular phone, the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The ending is the market, not a different phone.

  • U1United States, factory unlocked
  • UUnited States, sold by a carrier
  • WCanada
  • BInternational, often Europe and other unlocked markets
  • NSouth Korea
  • 0China

A trailing /DS means a dual-SIM retail unit. It does not change the model. Carrier and unlocked US phones can still differ in bands and in whether the bootloader can be unlocked.

Model number questions

What is my phone model number?

It is the code the maker assigns to your exact phone, such as CPH2667 or SM-S938U1. On the phone you are holding, it sits in Settings → About phone (iPhone: Settings → General → About), on the retail box, and often on the SIM tray. The live check on the home page shows it too, when the browser is willing to share.

Is the model number the same as the model name?

No. The name is what marketing calls the phone — Galaxy S25 Ultra. The number is the code printed on it — SM-S938U1. Several numbers can carry one name, because a phone sold in different markets gets a different code.

What does the letter after a Samsung code mean?

It is the market. U1 is a US factory-unlocked phone, U is a US carrier phone, B is international, W is Canada, N is South Korea, and 0 is China. A trailing /DS means the retail unit has dual SIM.
