iPhone A-numbers

Every iPhone carries an A-number — A3293, for example, is an iPhone 16 Pro. Apple assigns several A-numbers per model, one per region, and prints the identifier on the device and the box. This hub lists every A-number on file, from the 2007 original to the iPhone 18 Pro Max, each linked to its model.

Apple never puts the model in the browser, so this list starts from what the phone itself tells you: the A-number in Settings → General → About, on the box, on the SIM tray of recent iPhones, or on the back of older ones. Look the code up here to get the name.

iPhone questions

What is the difference between an A-number and a part number?

Settings → General → About shows a part number first (it starts with M). Tap the row and it swaps to the A-number. The part number identifies the retail configuration — storage, color — while the A-number identifies the hardware model and its region.

Why does one iPhone have several A-numbers?

Regions. The same iPhone ships as different A-numbers for the United States, China, and the rest of the world. Any of a model’s A-numbers means the same phone.
